TURA: The body of a young girl has been found hanging from a tree deep inside a jungle in Ganolgre area, not far from Tura on Wednesday.

Police are not ruling out rape and murder and the possibility that the suicide may have been staged.

Villagers found the semi-decomposed body of the girl, believed to be aged between 18 and 25 years, hanging from a tree inside a bamboo grove a little distance from the Ganolgre village road that leads down to an aloe vera processing plant.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the girl may have been murdered and the killer/killers tried to pass it off as suicide.

There was nothing found in her possession to reveal her identity. She did not have a purse, a cell phone or even loose change to connect her to someone indicating that it was a pre-planned murder. Rape has also not been ruled out.

A post mortem is due to take place on Thursday morning which will throw light on the causes of her death as police investigators are pressing for a thorough investigation for any injuries she may have received prior to her death.

The victim was of medium built, five feet in height, had shoulder-length black hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and dark blue jeans.
