Brahmaputra Board organizes its 55th Meeting

Itanagar: The 55th Meeting of Brahmaputra Board (BB) was held on Friday to discuss the annual accounts of the year 2011- 2012 which would be formulated and submitted to the board by June 30 next.

The meeting, organised by the water resource department of Arunachal Pradesh, was attended by all the members of NE states and chaired by chairman of the Brahmaputra Board K Yadav and Commissioner N Kumar, official sources said.

The meeting also reviewed the earlier 54th meeting of Brahmaputra Board.

It has carried out detailed planning and documentation of the enormous water resources of the region and related problems. The meeting reviewed the potentials which includes preparation of Master Plan, survey, investigation and preparation of detailed project reports of the multipurpose projects and of the drainage congested areas and anti-erosion schemes. The meeting also gave importance to development and utilization of water resources of the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys for hydro power, navigation, and other beneficial purposes, sources said.

Assignments, including preparation of DPR of the dams and other projects identified in Master plan and to take up construction and maintenance of the projects approved by the Central government was also discussed in the meeting. (UNI)
