Felicitation
The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) through the Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle will present the Award for Academic Excellence 2012 to the students who excelled in the various examinations at Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar on June 20. Chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma will be the chief guest o the occasion.
SBI chairman visit
SBI Chairman, Pratip Chaudhuri will arrive at Shillong on Tuesday to attend the Parliamentary Committee meet on Finance. This would be Chaudhuri’s first visit to Shillong after taking charge in April 2011. A community service banking programme will also be organised at the SBI main branch.
Demonstration
The Mawlai People’s Forum will stage a sit-in-demonstration under the leadership of the People’s Movement at Madan Heh, Mawlai from 3pm to 6pm of June 20, 21 and 22 as a mark of solidarity with the people living in the border areas of the state, especially Langpih, who recently encountered several incidents resulting in fear among the local residents of the area.
Inspection
The PWD Minister (roads) HDR Lyngdoh accompanied by chief engineer PWD, MM Sun and senior officials of the department inspected the Rani Godown NEC Road and PMGSY Nongrim-Jirang road to access the progress of the road construction on Monday.
Audience programme
The Northeastern service of AIR Shillong will organise an invited audience programme on June 20 at 3pm in their studio in the city. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, TTC Marak will be the chief guest on the occasion. The programme will be broadcast on June 24.
Kathia Baba
The 57th Acharya of Nimbarka Sampradaya, Brajavidehi Mahant and Vaishnaba Chatursampradaya Sri Mahant Swami Rash Nehari Das Kathia Babaji Maharaji will arrive in the city from Vrindabon on Wednesday. He will stay in Shillong till June 25.
