SHILLONG: In a huge embarrassment for the State, match officials had to suspend and postpone several matches mid-way for nearly half an hour at the SAF Junior Table Tennis Championship due to power failure.

The problem started after there was frequent tripping of power on Monday evening due to faulty power supply from the MeECL.

The Organising Committee had put in place several generators for uninterrupted power supply in case of a breakdown, but shockingly the generators could not be utilized due to the absence of technicians at the spot.

Members of the organising committee explained that they were unable to start the generators since the technician who was entrusted with the task was not present at the venue during the power breakdown. “The concerned technician should be taken into task since he has dented the image of the State,” the members added.
