Felicitation postponed

Felicitation of meritorious students by the Ardhendu Chaudhuri Charitable Trust, scheduled for June 23 has been postponed to July 5. According to a Press Release of the Trust, Meghalaya Governor R.S. Mooshahary has been requested to grace the occasion as chief guest. Nearly 125 students belonging to Mawprem Constituenmcy and Ri Raid Laban who secured 75% and above marks will be honoured on the occasion.

 Updation of electoral rolls

The electoral registration officer for 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) assembly constituencies has informed that the electoral rolls for the aforesaid constituencies is currently in the process of updation.

 Gratuitous relief released

Jowai: The Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that an amount of Rs. 15, 200 (Rupees Fifteen thousand two hundred) only has been released to the families affected by cyclone during the year 2012, in different villages under Laskein Development Block, Jaintia Hills District. Also, an amount of Rs. 38, 300 (Rupees thirty eight thousand three hundred) only has been released to the families affected by fire incident and hailstorm during the year 2012, in different villages under Amlarem Block, Jaintia Hills District.

 Convocation

The Convocation Program for Computer Trainees (2700 youth) of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road would be held on June 23 at the Institute’s Auditorium in two sessions. RG Lyngdoh, Former Home Minister, Meghalaya will grace the morning session at 10:30am and Padmashree Dr Helen Giri will grace the afternoon Session at 2:30pm.

 Dead body

One unknown male dead body (40) was found lying on the footpath of Bata Lane, Bimla Point Shillong on May 22. Relatives are requested to identify the body. Another unknown male dead body (50-55) was found lying at Demseiniong-Rynjah tri-junction road side on June 19.

 Blood Donation

The volunteers of NSS, RRC and NCC of St.Edmund’s College came forward to donate blood at the Blood Bank Nazareth Hospital on Friday. Sticking to this year’s Voluntary Blood Donation theme of ‘ Every blood donor is a Hero’ more than 70 students turned up at the camp and 33 including few teachers donated blood. Awareness programme was conducted on the different aspects of blood donation.

 General meeting

The general meeting of the Gour-Nitai Sangha will be held on June 23 at 6pm at Laban Bengalee Boys’s Lower Primary School premises at the ABP Road, Laban in connection with the Aasthaprahar Kirtan to be organized in July 27 this year.
