Itanagar: Despite education has became a fundamental right of every Indian child; some of the government schools in and around Capital complex were charging fees from the students, alleged All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU).

With the introduction of Right to Education Act in country subsequently in Arunachal Pradesh in 2010, ANSU pointed that charging fees from students in the name of purchasing stationary and school materials was illegal and unethical for school authorities, union sources said here on Friday.

Condemning such practices by the concerned authority, the union said, it was the fundamental duty of the state government to strictly abide by RTE and implement it effectively in schools.

The government should ensure free and compulsory education for every child from 1-14 years of age, the union said and added it should also materialize the required infrastructures and materials in every school across the state so that equal education should get to every child.

ANSU urged the state government and school authorities to abide by the RTE and to ensure free and compulsory education to every child in the school, sources added. (UNI)
