Guwahati: Floods continued to create havoc across Assam, inundating hundreds of villages and snapping surface communication in several parts, including Tripura, Mizoram, southern Assam and parts of Manipur.
The toll in flood across the state stood at 10, while landslides have claimed seven lives so far, including five at Guwahati.
Water levels of all important rivers, including the Brahmaputra, flowed above the danger level at most place of the state.
New areas were inundated by flood waters in several districts, including Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Sivsagar, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon.
Landslide in Guwahati and Mahadevtila near Haflong claimed three lives on Tuesday morning, taking the toll to seven in the state in the last few days.
Incessant rains triggered a landslide in Santipur area of the city on Tuesday morning and a youth was killed when a rock came crushing down on his rented house.
Reports of landslide were received from other parts of the city, including two incidents in Narengi and one in Udalbakhra.
Landslide has also cut off road communication to Dima Hasao district from Guwahati as well as Silchar.
The torrential rains have also triggered landslide in at least nine places along nearly 170 km stretch between Mandardisa and Damcherra stations on Lumding-Silchar Hill section of NF Railway.
The continous downpour has also led to artificial floods in the city, confining people to homes.
