New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs is contemplating to open passport seva kendras (PSKs) in each of the state capitals of the North East region, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said on Wednesday.

Krishna said the PSKs will help people in the remote corners of the region to easily procure passports.

As of now, only a single PSK based in Guwahati is catering to all the Northeastern states. The PSK has been set up on a public-private-partnership mode between Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Ministry of External Affairs under the e-governance scheme.
