NONGSTOIN: MPCC president DD Lapang on Friday made a verbal attack on the regional parties in the State saying that regional parties were but temporary and after sometime they disappear.

Stating that Congress was deep rooted in everyone’s blood, he said the Congress was the largest party and the only one that could bring about change.

He also attempted to get his point across by citing the example of Ampareen Lyngdoh who had initially contested on a UDP ticket and had later resigned from her party to join the Congress.

He also said that with the resignation of PA Sangma from the NCP, the party was ‘breathing its last’ in the State.

Speaking about the HSPDP, Lapang said Hoping Stone Lyngdoh was left alone since everyone else around him was gradually abandoning him.

Lapang also claimed that Congress is, without a doubt, going to form the government again in 2013, and urged everyone to join the winning side.

The MPCC president was speaking at a Congress rally at at Rambrai which was attended by Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs, Vincent H Pala, Boldness Nongum, president District Congress Committee (West Khasi Hills), Meghalaya Youth Congress president Gabriel Wahlang, Pariong MDC Irene Lyngdoh and the four Congress party ticket aspirants for the Rambrai-Jyrngam Assembly seat — Nastar Kharlyngdoh, Kimfa Marbaniang, Kingford Kharsyntiew and JTS Thongni.

While addressing the gathering, Pala urged the people to unite and work together to ensure a Congress victory in the 2013 election, even as he emphasised that the ticket aspirants have to rise above the expectations of the people.
