Imphal: Kanglen, (Purna Yatra) marking the end of Rath Yatra(festival of the chariot) was celebrated here today in gaiety.

The main rath at Shri Shri Govindajee Temple, Palace Compound, and other chariots which were pulled out on Ratha Yatra (June 21) had been kept outside the main temple complex.

Lord Jagannath accompanied by his sister Shubhadra and elder brother Balabhadra came out of the temple and amidst chanting of mantras boarded the Ratha. The chariot was pulled by devotees.

Immediately after the Ratha at Palace compound was pulled, Rathas were pulled out by devotees in the streets throughout the state.

As a traditional practice no other Ratha is pulled out until the Ratha at Shri Shri Govindajee is wheeled out.

Streets in Manipur wore a festival look as devotees sang and pulled the Rathas adorned beautifully. Special security arrangements were also taken up in view of the festival. (UNI)
