SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC defeated Malki FC by two goals to one at the ongoing Shillong Premier League played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

Lajong went into the lead in the 21st minute through a goal scored by Norasius Kharumnuid.

After conceding the goal, Malki started to play a more attacking game in an effort to catch their opponents.

This paid off as Malki got the all-important equaliser in the 26th minute after a strong right-footer from Michael Bassey went past the Lajong goalkeeper.

With both teams failing to capitalise on several further opportunities, the first half ended with the score level at 1-1.

In the second half, Lajong started in an electrifying manner, with greater energy than Malki.

The extra push garnered them a goal, and therefore the lead, in the 56th minute after star striker Seikhohou Tuboi scored a stunner.

Although Malki redoubled their efforts, pushing hard to again come from behind in the latter stages, it wasn’t enough and Lajong came away victorious.
