Shillong: At a time when a fast unto death is being held at Langpih on non-resolution of the vexed boundary issue between Meghalaya and Assam, Prime Minister’s Adviser TKA Nair, who is on a visit to the State, refrained from touching upon this burning issue.

When news persons questioned Nair on the long-pending issue, he parried the queries, while claiming ignorance about the resolution of the State Assembly suggesting the Centre for constitution of a boundary commission to resolve the dispute.

Even though Nair claimed that he was busy discussing issues relating to development projects in the State, it was surprising that the Prime Minister’s Adviser failed to remember whether he had held any discussions on two significant development projects in Meghalaya – construction of the Shillong Bypass and the four-laning of the Shillong-Guwahati highway. “I do not remember if I had discussed these projects,” Nair said.

He, however, went to ask Chief Secretary WMS Pariat about the status of these two mega projects in the State.
