SHILLONG: A late goal in the 88th minute by Ezeani helped save Nangkiew Irat SC from the jaws of defeat against a resilient MLP FT, who appeared to be in control of Thursday’s Shillong Premier League match.
MLP got off to a positive start, but their first goal was not scored until the latter stages of the second half.
In the 78th minute, Meker Suting crossed to Marshall Kurkalang, who missed his first attempt, but connected the second.
Nangkiew Irat could have scored a goal a few minutes before halftime when substitute Suresh Singh made a pass to Ezeani inside the box, but the latter lost his footing.
The 69th minute saw another near miss, when skipper Laltlanluanga sent a free kick sailing merely inches over the crossbar. It was after MLP FT began making some sneaky through passes that the pressure started mounting on Nangkiew Irat.
Just as things looked grave for Nangkiew, a shot from their midfielder was diverted to Ezeani who saw the ball in for an equaliser during the dying stages of the game.
