SHILLONG: Rangdajied United FC secured its sixth consecutive victory in the ongoing Shillong Premier League after defeating Malki SC by 2-1 here on Sunday.

Malki started off the match in an impressive way. They pushed hard at the start and were the first team to score a goal.

Samson Nongrum did it for them, netting the ball in the 14th minute.

Randajied, however, are a team that can never be counted out.

After this initial setback, Rangdajied started to play electrifying football, especially in the latter stages of the first half.

Continuously applying the pressure, Rangdajied finally manage to equalise after its star striker Babatunde’s powerful strike saw the ball go past the Malki goalkeeper.

While the score read 1-1 at halftime, it was Rangdajied who certainly went into the break with the momentum and they continued their dominance in the second half.

Several opportunities presented themselves to the team, but they missed all of them.

Malki should have made them pay for that, but were unable to do so.

In the end it was Rangdajied who had the last laugh, courtesy another goal from Babatunde.

It was the sheer magic of the Nigerian, who scored his second goal late in the match, coming in the 86th minute.

Thanks to him, Rangdajied earned the all important three points.

With this victory, Rangdajied top the points table with 16 points while Malki fans will be deeply disappointed at seeing their team languish right at the bottom of the table with a measly five points from six matches.
