SHILLONG: Despite all odds, the construction of the five star hotel at the old premises of Shillong Municipal Board in Jail road has picked up a rapid pace as most of the legal entanglements which were hindering the project now seems to be over.

Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Wednesday said that a major chunk of the land is now free and available for the construction of the hotel.

“However there are one or two people with whom the legal entanglement is going on in the court but most of the legal matters have been sorted out,” she added. The construction work of the maiden five star hotel in the state is expected to be completed by September next year.

The much awaited project hit a major stumbling block after some of the residents in the premises moved the court to save their shops from being demolished.

The CEO of the Shillong Municipal Board T Lyngwa also informed that the legal matters have been compromised and the construction is going on as per schedule.
