NONGPOH: The Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Central Body on Wednesday expressed concern over the less number of skill development courses at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) located at Nongpoh.

The federation also expressed concern over the absence of a SDEO at District Inspector of School, Nongpoh and the absence of a Principal at District Institute of Educational Training (DIET), Saiden at Nongpoh, owing to which, the people of the district and the youth community faced difficulty in having their grievances being addressed.

“The federation got the complaints on the absence of the SDEO at the District Inspector of School, Nongpoh since the previous SDEO, G Khongsdier had been posted as the Principal of the Government school of the Patharkhmah HSS at Patharkhmah, thus leading to people face grievance in completing their important work especially school management”, said Rangslang.

RBYF’s Education Secretary S. Rangslang, on Wednesday informed that the federation has received numerous complaints from the people especially the youth of Ri-Bhoi District.

The complainsts were over the lapse in proper functioning of the ITI with less number of trade being allotted by the government in the department making the youth lose their hope of getting better education and skills though the department.

At present there are only three skill development courses being taught in the ITI Nongpoh viz. plumber, wireman and welder whereas courses such as electrician, mechanic and stenographer are being missed out by the department which is important for the youth in generating their own business for their livelihood .

In this regard the federation will soon meet the Minister of Education and Labour for seeking the resolution on these matters and also to urge upon them to allot more skill development courses at the ITI for the benefit of the young generation at Ri-Bhoi District, S. Rangslang added.
