SHILLONG: Nangkiew Irat SC held Shillong Lajong FC to a 3-3 draw in an evenly contested match of the Shillong Premier League played at JN Stadium, on Friday.
Nangkiew Irat went into the lead in the second minute of the match after Laltlanluanga made a good run into the box before pushing the ball out of the reach of SLFC custodian Aibormiky Suchiang.
After this initial setback, SLFC came back strongly to dominate possession. Their hard work finally paid off after Boithang Hoakip scored to help SLFC level in the 11th minute.
With this equaliser, both the teams tried to penetrate the other’s defence.
Nangkiew again took the lead in the 36th minute through a goal scored by Alfoster Sunn.
After the break, SLFC continued to attack and it was Zodingliana who brought Lajong back into the match by scoring a goal after 55 minutes.
The match again took another twist as SLFC for the first time took the lead in the 68th minute following a second goal by Boithang.
At the time when SLFC looked to consolidate their lead, Sunn had other ideas as he scored his second to help Nangkiew Irat level the matchin the 70th minute.
At the end of the first leg, Rangdajied United top the table with 18 points by winning their six matches. Royal Wahingdoh follows with 12 points and Langsning FC with 10.
However, Lajong, Malki and Nangkiew have eight points each while Lawmali Pyllun lies at the bottom of the table with zero points.
