SHILLONG: Rangdajied United FC secured their seventh consecutive win in the ongoing Shillong Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Meghalaya Police FT on Saturday. The win ensures a top spot for Rangdajied United with 21 points as the first leg of the league draws nearer to its close.

However, MLP did not go down without a fight as they came close to scoring several times throughout the match.

Both sides started off in an attacking mode, getting close to scoring on numerous occasions.

Jeribe Kelechi scored Rangdajied’s first goal in the 20th minute after placing the ball past MLP’s goalkeeper Matheus.

Then in the 28th minute, star striker Babatunde fired one into the goal after accepting a short pass from Bansharai Sunn inside the box and in the process, strengthening Rangdajied lead.

Just as things appeared comfortable for the league leaders, MLP’s Plassing Myrthong produced a goal in the 39th minute.

MLP FT were unable to overcome their deficit in the second half despite some near misses with the most significant one coming in the 69th minute. Niwan-O sent a collected rebound straight towards the goal but Surjay made a superb upward reach to save. Matheus also made several excellent saves for MLP, especially in the second half.
