Assam CM hails Pranab’s victory

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to Sunday congratulated President-elect Pranab Mukherjee on his victory in the presidential polls and exuded hope that the veteran leader, with decades of experience in public life, would provide guidance to the government and the country.

“On behalf of the people of Assam, I congratulate him and wish him all the best,” Gogoi told reporters here after the results of the presidential polls were announced.

“This is not a mere victory, but rather a grand success,” he added.

Gogoi said Mukherjee had a long association with Assam and hoped that the relationship would continue after he was sworn in as the 13th President of India.

“He is one of the most experienced and senior leaders of the country. With his immense expertise, he will be able to provide guidance to the central government as well as the country,” he said.

“We did our best to help him in securing a resounding victory in the presidential polls and he has also appreciated our help,” the Chief Minister said. (PTI)
