Shillong: The Sawsymper NGO Forum which includes the HANM, FKJGP, Synjuk ki Seng Samla Shnong (SSSS) and Sawsymper Women’s Federation has decided to organize a public meeting to deliberate on the issue pertaining to the possibility of merging with the new district, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat.

These public meetings will be held on July 24 at weiloi, West Khasi Hills and at Mawhiang-Domsohjhur and on July 25 at Pongkung village.

Sawsymper NGO Forum organizing secretary Gilbert Kharraswai has stated that the meetings will deliberate on the issue.

Gilbert mentioned, “As leaders, we felt that it is appropriate for the region to merge with the new district as Shillong which is the headquarter of East Khasi Hills is quite far than Mawsynram”.

“Our intention is to listen to the voice of the public on this matter, whether it is convenient to stick with East Khasi Hills or the South West Khasi Hills District”, Kharraswai added.
