Anjan Dutt’s next movie is about his own life

Kolkata: Renowned filmmaker Anjan Dutt is planning a movie on the Gorkhaland movement in Darjeeling, West Bengal. He says it his “own story” and that he will play the lead in it.

Titled “Darjeeling er Rasta” (Streets in Darjeeling), it will be a lyrical yet a very humane love story of recent times.

“It is basically my own story. I have spent my childhood in hills and this film will revolve around my adulthood and my return to the hills. The film will be based on event of last five-six years. The movie will also focus on the Gorkhaland agitation in the hills,” said Dutt.

Set in the background of the mystical hills, the story will revolve around a filmmaker who spent his childhood in the hills and returns in his adulthood.

The film will capture the turmoil in Darjeeling over the demand for a separate state, Gorkhaland Territorial Administartion (GTA) accord and the elections to GTA. To be produced by the Pratigya Group, it will go on the floors in February next year and Dutt, an acclaimed director and singer, will portray the role of the filmmaker.

With films like “Ranjona Ami Ar Asbona”, “Byomkesh Bakshi” series, “Madly Bangali”, “Bow Barracks Forever”, Dutt has joined the league of leading filmmakers in the Bengali cinema. (IANS)
