Shillong: Shillong Lajong FC and Langsning FC drew their first match of the Shillong Premier League second leg 1-1 despite numerous opportunities created by both teams.

Lajong drew first blood in the 32nd minute after Boithang sent a corner straight at Lalhlimthara, who took a shot and beat Langsning’s custodian Tungshang.

Earlier, in the fourth minute, the Reds nearly found the net after a diversion was eventually headed towards the goal. However, Tungshang’s reflexes helped him make a wonderful save.

Lajong’s lead was, however, short-lived as in the 38th minute, Joel Sunday Ayeni scored a sitter after facing the keeper one-to-one.

Langsning had other chances but failed to convert; their last significant opportunity came in the 81st minute, when substitute Victor Shadap lobbed an on-target ball over Aibormiky only for a Lajong defender to put the ball away.

It was notable that Shillong Lajong fielded a more experienced side, with their younger players rested and replaced by players like Joy, Henry and Wailadmi.
