An angry Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi denied that he had directly blamed the Centre or the army for arriving late on the scene.
When a reporter asked the Prime Minister about Gogoi’s reportedly pointing finger that the Centre was also responsible for delay in sending army troops, Assam Chief Minister intervened to shot back “I did not say this. I did not say this”.
On Friday, at a press conference in Guwahati, the chief minister said the presence of army from day one could have prevented the violence.
BJP, Meanwhile, demanded a reply from Dr Singh on the statement by Gogoi. (Agencies)
