SHILLONG: Two penalties scored by Marlangki Suting helped Malki SC make a comeback to draw against MLP FT 3-3 on Saturday at the JN Stadium.

Kitkupar Kharshiing, who had been out with an injury before making a comeback in MLP’s last match against Lawmali Pyllun, scored the first goal in only the third minute by way of a well-timed chip.

The lead was supplemented by a 13th minute goal from Marshall Kurkalang, who appeared to be in good touch in Saturday’s match. However, the full-strength MLP side conceded a goal in the 32nd minute when Michael Bassey made a brilliant cross to Timmy, who made the penetration.

Malki SC then found the equaliser in injury time after a penalty was scored by Marlangki.

With the scores reading 2-2 at half time, the match looked to be headed for an exciting finish.

Following the break, Kurkalang scored his second goal of the game in the 67th minute after baffling the Malki keeper.

However, another penalty scored by Marlangki in the 77th minute helped Malki break the lead.

MLP custodian Allwyn Patwet blocked the straight shot but the ball ricocheted back to Marlangki, who headed it in.

The 3-3 result was, incidentally, the second draw in two games between these teams.
