SHILLONG: After the Khasi-Pnar, now the LPG consumers of Longkmie Gas Agency have complained of harassment by the agency which is doing the reverification of its consumers.

The consumers complained that the gas agency is flaunting the norms for issuing the ‘know your customer” (KYC).

Many consumers complained on Tuesday that they were asked to buy the forms form one ‘Bina Studio’ in Laban even as they had once submitted the details earlier.

“We are asked to buy a 4 -page form from ‘Bina studio’ by paying a sum of Rs 5,” said an aggrieved consumer.

The consumers have also complained that the particular gas agency many-a-times comes up with its own modalities whenever people go to book a cylinder or even take delivery.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said that if people have any complaints against a gas agency they should bring it to the notice of the district administration.

It may be mentioned that the Deputy Commissioner initiated the KYC process to keep a check on the crisis of LPG cylinders in the city.

The administration has embarked on the exercise to find out the exact number of members against card holders of each LPG connection and has accordingly instructed the agencies to insist on consumers for ration cards or a document from the headman to indicate the number of inmates in the household.

Earlier, many consumers had also questioned the behaviour of some of the staffs of the Khasi-Pnar Gas Agency during the reverification process.
