They have been the

biggest names in

electronic dance music and once sold out the Madison Square Garden in nine minutes flat so when DJs and producers – Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso – collectively known as the Swedish House Mafia, state that they might be playing a one-off date in India on their farewell tour, it’s bound to create ripples of excitement in the music community.

Word on the grapevine suggests that there is a strong possibility that Swedish House Mafia might be in India around Diwali as part of the last leg of their farewell tour that starts in November. Their management has been in constant touch with Submerge, India’s largest music dance collective, to make this one-off gig a possibility. “We’ve been watching from afar and he has already played and says it is one of the most vibrant scenes in the world. We’re working hard with Nikhil [of Submerge] to make that a reality and bringing our last tour to India for the first time!” stated the band.

For his part, Nikhil Chinapa, founder of Submerge says, “Dance music has a huge market worldwide and it’s time we create fresher concepts and experiences to give audiences in India a taste of global entertainment. The stigma attached to dance music with the misinformed perception of events being dangerous is slowly disappearing with the genre’s mainstream success and audience reactions. We hope to see profitable and beneficial brand associations for dance music as a genre going forward. We are hoping to draw their fans from all across the region as this epic farewell act is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans in India.” (Agencies)
