Suspected B’deshi nationals apprehended

 JOWAI: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO), East Jaintia Zone apprehended 18 suspected Bangladesh nationals at Ladrymbai Petrol Pump on Friday.

The AJYWO zonal president, Marshall Biam informed that all the suspected intruders could not produce valid documents on demand. Later, they were handed over to Ladrymbai Police for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, the AJYWO-EJZ has urged the Infiltration cell of the Police Department deputed at Byrnihat in Ribhoi District and also at Rattacherra in East Jaintia hills District to conduct proper checking.

BSF detain smuggler

The BSF along with the Gasulpara Outpost police officials on Thursday raided the house of one Hera Mandal at Siranpara village in South Garo Hills and arrested one a Phensedyl smuggler Zakir Hussain (32) who is a resident of Assam.

During the search, police found 165 bottles of Phensedyl worth around Rs 33,000, 47 bottles of liquor worth around Rs 5600 and one mobile phone along with two Indian Simcards.

The BSF also seized 3 kg of hemp costing around Rs 9000 which was being smuggled to Bangladesh.
