Shillong: Students of Synod College who graduated this year were felicitated by the College on the occasion of Graduation Day organised at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal who was the chief guest on the occasion, pointed out that there is a lack of sense of direction among youngsters of the state.

“I have seen that many young people here don’t have a direction in their mind as to what are the things they are going to do after they graduate,” he said.

“I have also seen that in many pockets of the state, some people think it is easy to take up a cause but it is difficult to sit across the table and discuss, it is easy to pick a gun but it is difficult to live a dignified life”, the DC added.

Lauding the college for organising the graduation day in honour of the students, Goyal said the trend of felicitating the outgoing students by the college has decreased with the number of graduates multiplying over the years.

Meanwhile, shifting his attention to the students, Goyal said the world outside academic campus is full of challenges and opportunities and it is upto to the students to attain the motto of the college which is ‘Ever Higher, Ever Brighter’.

Goyal also urged the students to have a role model in their life, the one who pushes them to strive higher and lead them to their goals.
