SHILLONG: The Fire Service police from Shillong on Sunday managed to recover the body of the youth Ronald Sawian who drowned in Wahlyngkien Kshaid Demthring near Sa-I-Mika Park, Sohra on Saturday.

Police informed that they recovered the body at around 9 in the morning.

It may be mentioned that Ronald along with his friend Banylla Syiemiong (female, 19) was swept by the strong current of the river. The body of Banylla, who was doing her MBBS in China, has been fished out on Saturday itself.

According to sources, it is believed that Ronald had gone to swim in the River since his pant was found lying near the river.

While trying to swim, sources said that there are strong possibilities that due to strong current he was pushed inside the river.

“Banylla might have also drowned while trying to save Ronald,” sources informed.

Sources also informed that the people who were fishing in the river were the first ones to notice the drowning of the two friends.
