Seminar
The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam is organising a national seminar on ‘Livelihood options for small and marginal farmers in the fragile ecosystem under National Agricultural Innovation Project-3 NAIP’ on Thursday and Friday. Agricultural research institutes, state/central agricultural universities and NGOs involved in livelihood programme will present their achievements and success stories.
Janmashtami
The Punya Abhirbhav Tithi of Sri Sri Thakur Suryananda Maharajji, Sri Sri Yogamaya Kalimata and Sri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday at Yogamaya Ashram in the city from 6.30 pm onwards.
Youth exchange programme
Palvy Dora Kharkongor, an NSS Volunteer, represented Meghalaya in the recently conducted ‘Youth Exchange Programme’ to China organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The programme was held from July 12-22. From among the 100 delegates from India, which included people from all walks of life drawn from different parts of the country, Palvy was the sole representative for Meghalaya. The events included meeting with the President of All China Youth Federation and visits to different heritage places like the Forbidden City and The Great Wall Of China. The visiting delegates also participated in a cultural programme organised by the youth of Shenyang City where Palvy presented a Khasi song Ri Khasi Ri Khasi.
