CM commiserates loss of lives

 SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has expressed deep anguish over the loss of so many precious lives on Wednesday early morning in a bus accident near Tongseng village in East Jaintia Hills district near the Meghalaya-Assam border.

Extending his deepest condolences and sympathy to the relatives of the deceased, Dr Sangma wished for speedy recovery of the injured passengers. He assured that the district administration will extend all possible assistance at the spot and assist in medical intervention of the injured.

The Tripura government on Wednesday rushed medical and rescue teams to the accident spot.

The District Magistrate of Unakoti district, Avishek Chandra rushed to the scene along with medical and rescue teams as many of the passengers were from Tripura.

The Tripura government has opened three control rooms, one in the state capital and the two others in Unakoti and North Tripura district which were providing information to the kin of the deceased or the injured.

Sources said the state government will also make arrangements for the kin to visit the scene of the accident.

Tripura Transport Minister Manik Dey expressed his sympathy to the relatives of the victims. (With inputs from PTI)
