Office Bearers elected
The Jaintia Coal Miners and Dealers Association in its general meeting have elected Kynsai Dkhar as the president, Richard S Lyngdoh as the vice president besides other members.
Inter College Debate
Seng Khasi College will hold an inter college Debate competition on August 13 at the college premises. The topic of the competition is “Scams, corruption and distortion of democracy: A functional democracy and good governance need a campaign for clean politics.”
Application invited
The deputy commissioner of east Khasi hills has invited Applications from interested colleges, schools, Vas and NGOs of the district having students and members in the age group of 15-25 years for undertaking youth related activities and programmes under the chief minister youth development scheme 2011-2012. Last date of submission of applications is August 31.
Financial assistance
The deputy commissioner of east Khasi hills has invited proposals from voluntary organizations, non-governmental organizations and graded self help groups for consideration of providing financial assistance from the voluntary action fund (VAF) of state planning department during the year 2011-2012 in accordance with the approved guidelines.
Dry day
The deputy commissioner (excise) east Khasi hills has declared dry day throughout the district on August 15 on account of Independence Day.
Meeting
