SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Friday said certain departments including Health, Education, Sports and Transport are being created in the four new districts of the State, while the other departments will be constituted next year.
Dr Sangma also informed that the four new districts must immediately constitute the respective district selection committees.
He also informed that the State Government has undertaken an exercise called normalization of posts under which many of the posts, where the salaries are being paid from the State’s plan are now being transferred to the non-plan pool.
“We created a gap in the plan which resulted in the availability of funds and now all the newly created posts will be paid from the plan,” the Chief Minister said.
Dr Sangma reiterated that the Government plans to construct mini secretariats in each of the four districts to enable all the line departments to function under one roof which would not only make it easier for the citizen but also prove beneficial from the security point of view.
“As soon as the detailed project reports for the mini secretariats are ready the concerned department will call for the tender,” he said.
The four new districts are North Garo Hills with headquarter at Resubelpara, East Jaintia Hills with (HQ Khliehriat), South West Garo Hills (HQ Ampati) and the South West Khasi Hills (HQ Mawkyrwat).
