Shillong: Mining and Geology Minister BM Lanong has reacted strongly to the letter written by one Mylene R which appeared in Editorial page (Letters to the Editor) of The Shillong Times under the caption- ‘What a Justification’ (August 10).

Terming the writer as ‘Imposter Mylene’, Lanong says the writer is camouflaging his/her identity using a fake name with the intention of maligning his image with various write-ups highlighting the loopholes in the Mining department.

It may be mentioned that the letter written by Mylene R focused on the delay in implementing the mining policy and alleging that the minister is ‘pandering to the moneybags of the mining belt to finance his next election’.

Livid with the write-up, Lanong stated that the draft of the mining policy is out of his hands and is presently lying on the Chief Minister’s shelf. Challenging the writer, Lanong said if the writer could come up with proofs to support his/her allegations, then he is ready to tender his resignation as member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

It may be mentioned that Mylene R is a resident of Nongrim Hills and has been writing several letters on issues of public interest. One letter was regarding the abnormal increase in house rent and the total lack of regulation over the issue of fixing house rent in Shillong and the unwarranted interference by house owners over the personal lives of their tenants.

Her email ID is [email protected].
