Govt to fund NGOs to run hostels, old-age homes

 Shillong: The state government will provide fund and create infrastructure to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of the state to run hostels for students, shelter homes, old-age homes besides others.

Informing this here on Saturday, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said the government was keen in providing support system to the youth, children and old people of the state.

The Chief Minister said this while speaking at a function at St Edmund’s College in the city.

“The best partner to run these kind of institutions are the NGOs”, Dr Sangma said.

Dr Sangma also informed that the state government would invest on projects to make Shillong a knowledge and cultural destination to attract the attention of people coming from outside the state as well as from abroad.
