Bomb scare in city

 SHILLONG: A suspicious miniature wooden cask discarded in the heart of the city on Sunday morning sent the police and passers-by into a tizzy fuelling a bomb scare.

The suspicious item was found discarded in front of Baba Tourist Lodge at Police Bazar on Sunday morning at 6 am. The item was four inches in diameter and seven inches in length.

Soon after the discovery, police rushed to the spot and secured the area and later a bomb disposal squad also reached the spot.

The bomb squad took the item to a secure place where it was opened and found to be empty.
