SHILLONG: In the face of alleged unabated influx into this hill state, the KSU has reiterated its demand for introduction inner line permit (ILP).

Talking to The Shillong Times here on Tuesday, KSU president Daniel Khyriem said, the state government should first introduce ILP before coming out with any ‘mechanism’ to check unabated influx.

The statement came a few days after Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma announced that the Government would be putting in place a mechanism where people can be mapped in each and every locality.

The State Government earlier had stated that the Government’s mechanism would be more stringer than the ILP.

The KSU leader urged the State Government to involve civil societies during the discussion to finalise the proposed mechanism to check influx.

The KSU and other NGOs of the state over the years have been demanding for various stringent measures including the introduction of work permit, 3 tier card and ILP fearing large scale influx in the state.
