Shillong: After 35 years of service to the community through the setting up of coaching classes, tuition classes and the like, the Khasi Jaiñtia Welfare Association (KJWA) has now decided to further extend their service to the youth by opening up a vocational training centre.
Highlighting the decision of the association at the closing ceremony to mark the 35 years of completion of the association in its service at Dinam Hall at Jaiaw here on Saturday, KJWA president N W Khyriem said the aim of the association have, is and will always be for the welfare of the youth of the state.
“The purpose of setting up this vocational training centre is to open up opportunities for the youth in shaping their skills in various fields through trainings which will be given by the association as per modern technologies to encourage the youth to stand in their own feet”, he said.
Meanwhile, Khyriem also said that the association has a close connection with the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in Delhi and every time, the director along with the regional director from Guwahati would come down to Shillong and visit the coaching classes of the association.
“This is one opportunity in exposing our talents and skills, enabling a platform for our local youth to get government jobs, be it in Meghalaya or other states of the country”, he mentioned.
On this occasion, the chief guest Rev ES Langstieh released the souvenir of the association.
The others present on the occasion included CEM of KHADC Pynshngaiñ N Syiem, WHD Syngkon, SS Majaw, Dr DRL Nonglait and SS Rynjah-General Secretary of KJWA besides teachers and students of various schools in the city.
