Agartala: RSP MLA Partha Das, who has been struggling to prove validity of his SC certificate as genuine, has got a lease of life when the Agartala Bench of Guwahati High Court issued a notice to the state authority asking it why a case is not being initiated against the verdict of the State Level SC Scrutiny Committee (SLSC).

On July 31, the SLSC after a long hearing declared the SC of MLA Partha Das was fake sparking a ripple in the political landscape in Tripura.

However, the MLA filed a writ petition before the High Court on August 17 challenging the verdict of the SLSC.

In the plea, Partha Das said that the Vigilance Organization had conducted an inquiry into the allegation against my SC certificate. After a through investigation, the Vigilance Organization cleared by SC certificate on the basis of evidence.

As the Vigilance Organization had given clean chit to my SC certificate, there is no need to reinvestigate the matter by SLSC, he said in the plea.

After hearing the petition, Justice UB Saha issued a notice to the state government asking a reply on the plea filed by the legislator within next four weeks.

Side by side, the court also asked the government not to act against the MLA on the basis of SLSC decision until further order.

However, his own party Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and ally CPM have already started maintaining safe distance from MLA Partha Das.
