TURA: Following the complaint submitted by the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Western Zone (North), Dadenggre to Meghalaya Chief Minister regarding violation of Human Rights by the SDPO Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi has called upon the Superintendent of Police, Tura to look into the matter and take appropriate action. The GSU had submitted the complaint letter addressed to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner seeking strict action to be taken against the erring DSP, who has allegedly been physically and mentally abusing the villagers of the Dadenggre Sub-Division.

According to the GSU, a police team led by DSP Bruno Sangma had gone to the village of Dabonggre on 6th August and on reaching there he commanded a group of villagers to come near him and then ordered all of them to lie down on the ground and beaten up mercilessly. Also the villagers who tried to flee the spot were chased by the DSP himself and later subjected to severe physical abuse which included a seven month pregnant woman and an ailing old man.
