Involvement of Church leaders sought for social upliftment

 Shillong: As part of the Platinum Jubilee Year of Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, the college organised a one-day seminar on the theme ‘Deepening the Faith and Involvement in the Society’ here on Saturday.

The seminar was to help Church leaders to involve themselves in the activities of the Church.

“Church leaders are instrumental in bringing the message of God to the Christian faithful, they were the pillars in building God’s kingdom on earth,” Fr. Barnes Mawrie said while addressing the gathering.

He spoke on the role of the Laity in building a just society and encouraged the participants to continue working for the spread of God’s kingdom through social upliftment.

Delivering the inaugural address, the Rector of Sacred Heart Theological College, Rev Fr. Jose Vettath, SDB spoke of the importance of the Laity in taking part in the activities of the Church in spreading God’s Kingdom.

The other resource persons who spoke at the seminar were Fr. John Madur, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Shillong, Fr. Jose Varickaserril and Assistant Parish Priest of Mawlai.

The seminar was graced AL Hek, Minister for IT and Water Resources.

Rev Archbishop Dominic Jala of Shillong concluded the seminar with the celebration of the Holy Mass.
