Kohima: The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU) on Saturday decided to launch their second phase of agitation on August 28 with a vehicle procession.

The procession would be taken out from Kohima. Later a memorandum would be submitted to the governor.

In a statement NCSU president Pele Khezhie said the decision was taken at a joint meeting of NCSU officials, Action Committee members and representatives of all the district units. The members expressed resentment over the ‘non-responsive’ attitude of the state government to their agitation over pending bills.

The first phase of agitation entered the 14th day on Saturday.

He said members and official representatives of NCSU units from all the 11 districts, during the meeting, viewed the ‘delaying tactics’ of the government in clearing pending bills while also stating that enough time had been given to do the necessary verifications in the last two and a half years. Therefore, the members decided not to extend any cooperation to the SITs of the State Vigilance Commission set up for verification of the pending bills as directed by the State Cabinet, he said. Meanwhile, on the upcoming second phase agitation, Khezhie said NCSU members from all the districts will converge at the Old MLA Hostel junction along with their vehicles, including trucks.

Later they will proceed to the Raj Bhavan to submit a representation to the governor. (UNI)
