Lajong go down to Wellington

MPHAL: Shillong Lajong suffered a 2-5 defeat to Wellington Phoenix in the North East Lajong Super Series here on Sunday.

Jeremy Brockie recorded a stunning tally of four goals for Wellington, while Tom Biss added a fifth.

Newly-signed striker of Shillong Lajong, Friday Gbeneme, scored in the 74th minute and netted the second goal for the Reds in the 84th minute.

SLFC will take on United Sikkim FC on the August 30 at the JN Stadium, Shillong at 3 pm to decide which of the teams will face Wellington in the final on September 1 in Shillong.

Wellington will also play an exhibition match against SPL champions, Royal Wahingdoh, on August 29
