TURA: The Mellim Area Citizens’ Forum (MACF) recently held a general public meeting at the Mellim Community Hall, where the people, gathered for the meeting, voiced their unwillingness to be included in the newly formed district of South West Garo Hills.

The meeting was attended by the citizens of over 30 villages under the 56-Gambegre Assembly segment and the Gambegre C&RD Block which as per the declared demarcation and the map of South-West Garo Hills District includes 9 villages under the Okkapara GS Circle, 13 villages under the Mellim GS Circle and 10 villages under the Anchenggre GS Circle.

President of the MACF, Gallendro M Sangma, said the people have collectively put forward their reluctance to be part of South West Garo Hills district.

MACF also resented the fact that people had neither demanded for the district nor the Government had made any prior announcement or taken their opinion before creation of the new district.
