SHILLONG: The IBN Network, in partnership with IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., recognized the achievements of nine young Indians at the 3rd edition of Young Indian Leaders Awards held in New Delhi.

In a glittering awards ceremony, Meghalaya’s environmentalist Kamal Medhi along with nine young Indians were felicitated by the Minister of State for Communications & IT Sachin Pilot for their commendable service.

The ‘Young Indian Leaders Awards’ were given to the young leaders while applauding the youths of the nation for their accomplishments, commitment to society and their zeal to contribute in shaping the future of India

It may be mentioned that Kamal Medhi works for the Samrakshan Trust, an NGO working for sustainable development of forest-dependent communities.

For seven years, Medhi has been at the forefront of a movement that aims to involve the community comprising 36 villages in the Baghmara area of Lower Garo Hills in conservation efforts, making them see the efficacy of their efforts, helping them engage in livelihood issues through eco-tourism.
