Drowned victim’s body recovered

SHILLONG: Police on Sunday recovered the body of Rima Biswa who was washed away in a river at Dainthlen, Sohra on Saturday.

Biswa has been washed away along with one of her friends Koushik Roy.

SDPO of Sohra, Ian Onel Swer, informed that Rima Biswa was a class VIII student of Presbyterian Church School, Madanriting and was the daughter of Ramesh Biswa.

The tragedy had unfolded when the girl fell into river while climbing a rock to click photograph. Seeing his friend drowning, Koushik jumped into the river to save her but the strong current of the river washed away both of them.

Earlier on August 5, two friends Ronald Sawian and Banylla Syiemiong had drowned in a similar incident at Wahlyngkien Kshaid, Demthring near the Sa-I-Mika Park, Sohra.
