NONGPOH: The jinxed Umsning 4-lane Bypass project has hit yet another stumbling block after the Umsning Socio Sport & Cultural Club (USS&CC) on Sunday expressed their stiff opposition to the State Government’s proposal for constructing the four-lane bypass through the club’s football ground located at Umsning Patarim.

The club expressed its opposition to the project at a meeting convened by the club members following receipt of a letter from the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, proposing for conducting spot survey and demarcation of the club’s playground which is scheduled to take place on Monday.

USS&CC president Dipul R Ryntathiang, while speaking to this scribe, said, “The club will not hand over the playground to the government for the four-lane project.”
