SHILLONG: The organizers of Meghalaya Youth Icon award have informed on Monday that people can send in their text messages giving any names to 9774212161 to be chosen as the youth leader of the year. The first phase of voting will close on September 12. The managing director of Avenues, Mark Stone Laitflang said that an individual can send only five SMSes to nominate the Icon. Since the organizers have not released any probable names for the voters to select, they are free to send any names.
Once the votes are counted after the first round, a list of top five Icons nominated will be circulated for a second and final round of voting. “In keeping with the spirit of the Youth Icon awards, only 5 votes per number will be counted while deciding on the final 5”, Laitflang added .
