Drunken brawl at MLA hostel

 SHILLONG: A Meghalaya police constable was hospitalized after a drunken brawl in the room allotted to NCP legislator, John Marak at MLA Hostel here on Tuesday night.

According to sources, the incident took place at around 10 pm when there was a scuffle in the room which was occupied by the constable identified as Paul R Sangma from the sixth battalion of Meghalaya police and a few others.

Marak , who has not used the room, is currently staying in a rented accommodation in Shillong.

The legislator was not available for comments.

Police recovered broken liquor bottles from the blood stained room and investigation is on to find out who were with the police constable and what led to the incident.

The injured constable is undergoing treatment at the Shillong Civil Hospital.
