World suicide Prevention day
The World Suicide Prevention Day programme will be organised by the Martin Luther Christian University at Pearly Dew Secondary School, Jaiaw from 10 onwards on Monday. There will be slogan writing, poster making and essay writing competition among the class 10 students of various schools. There will also be a vigil in front of the State Central Library, Foreign Registration Office and All Saints Hall from 6-7pm on Monday.
Awareness programme
In a bid to save the environment, the state government through the department of Forest and Environment in collaboration with the Soil and Water Conservation department organised an awareness programme on conservation of the Umiew and Umtyngar catchment on Saturday at Umtyngar. The programmed themed, ‘Conservation for a better Tomorrow’, witnessed a number of locals participating in the event.
Bengali Drama
The Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya Sammelan, Shillong Branch will organise ‘Gopichand’, a Bengali drama to be staged by Nabamayukh Natya Sanstha of Kolkata at Shri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture at 5pm on September 23.
Regional seminar
The National Federation of State Coop. Banks Ltd (NAFSCOB), Mumbai will be organising the regional seminar on ‘Progress, problems and prospects of short term coop. credit structure’ at Pine Wood Hotel on September 14. C & RD minister Saleng A Sangma will be attending the function as the chief guest.
Conference
The Telegraph and the state government will jointly organise a Meghabytes Nict 2012, a one-of-its-kind business and IT conference in the state of Meghalaya at Hotel Polo Towers at 10am on September 14.
